I made some islands using the generator in this post while I was finalizing the procedure, so here they are. If they look a little messy, it's because they are.
Saline
Governor: Lucian Malthus
Sergeant: Peter Fuerte
Garrison: 12 squads of 12 marines, each squad led by a lieutenant
Primary Industry: Poison purifying salt production through the harvesting and processing of saltwood tree sap
Population: 2,000 workers involved in poison purifying salt production, 500 tradesmen and professionals, 50 bureaucrats, 8,000 non-working dependents
Description: Saline is a small town on the coast, nestled between the beach and the southern end of the East Band Mountains. Coral walls surround a town made of mostly palm wood and coral. The Governor's tower is the only building made entirely out of coral bricks and stands taller than any other building in town as well as being in the exact center of it. Each morning at sunrise, the sap harvesters go out into the forest to collect sap and tap new trees. Shortly after, the poison purification salt factories begin their work straining, boiling, drying, and grinding the sap into poison purification salts. Aside from imported foods, people eat locally raised sheep, moa, and rice as well as whatever they can forage from the jungle. Governor Malthus is known as a fair but iron-fisted leader who enforces harsh punishments for the breaking of laws. Despite sometimes draconian punishments, Malthus is interested in maintaining some sense of justice in this frontier town and accepts no corruption among those who work under him. People are generally happy in Saline because crime is low and lizard folk raids are rarely problematic. Weather tends to be wet and windy year-round.
Saline has recently become the epicenter of the resistance against the trade monopoly held by the merchants in Saltport, to the point that the entire town has signed a petition to the First Emperor to have their currently shallow harbor dredged to accommodate large cargo ships like the harbor in Saltport can. This was done with the support of the Governor in hopes of raising the status of his town, but the people did it as part of a wider sentiment of resistance to Saltport merchants. There is a belief that the merchants set their buying prices for poison purification salts artificially low to get better profit margins, and so the people of Saline believe they should be able to sell directly to the shipping companies. There is a lot of uncertainty about what the Emperor’s decision will be as the merchants have more collective power to lobby for their interests in the capital city than the people and governor of Saline.
Splinter
Governor: Anna Morris
Sergeant: Birch Maduro
Garrison: 15 squads of 20 marines, each squad led by a lieutenant
Primary Industry: Split between quarrying and poison purification salt production
Population: 2,000 quarry workers, 2,000 salt workers, 1,000 tradesmen and professionals, 300 bureaucrats, 17,000 non-working dependents
Details: Half of the workers in this town work in the obsidian and quartz quarries, removing blocks of these minerals to be sent off to other parts of the world to be processed into stuff. Being at the base of The Gem, there are many large deposits of both minerals. The other half of the town's labor force works in the poison purification salt industry, working in the jungle to the east. Both groups of workers take a lot of pride in their respective industries and there is a strong rivalry between the two groups. Recently, tensions have risen between the two groups and it does not take much to start a fight if opposing factions are in the same space. The governor takes a pretty hands-off approach and leaves the marines to their own devices so long as her own comfort is not compromised. The sergeant spends most of his time drinking and hates needing to take time out of his schedule to do actual work. The Town has coral brick walls. One half of the town is built from local stone while the other half is made of palm wood from the jungle. Quarry workers live in the stone half and salt workers live in the wood half. Diets in this town tend to rely more on imported goods and hunting due to the relative lack of good farming land compared to other towns in the Titan's Ring.
Blacksand
Governor: Sandra Dark
Sergeant: Samantha Cain
Garrison: 5 squads of 10 marines, each led by a lieutenant
Primary Industry: Herb Farming
Population: 1,000 farmers, 500 quarry workers, 100 tradesmen and professionals, 30 bureaucrats, 6,000 non-working dependents
Details: While most people in this town make their money by farming the culinary herbs that grow well in the dry climate of the western ring, the small obsidian quarry is growing in size. The herbs that grow well on this side of the island are mostly slow growing perennial herbs with woody stems. This town is relatively poor, although the walls and many of the buildings are built from locally quarried obsidian. The governor is very strict and wants to push people to be as productive as they can be, but a well placed bribe will usually keep the marines from bothering you. Food in this village tends to be very well flavored due to the proximity to the herb fields.
Saltport
Governor: Carly Philohalos
Captain of the Guard: Herb Marston
Inspector General: Marta Gomez
Garrison: 15 lieutenants overseeing 50 guards each
Population: 100,000
Details: Saltport makes most of its money from cargo tariffs, docking fees, and trade taxes. As the only city in the Titan's Ring and the location of the only port large enough for most cargo ships in the First Empire, pretty much any goods that enter it leave the Ring have to go through here, meaning those taxes and fees add up to quite a bit of money. This focus on trade means the city is a hub of merchants and cargo ships as they make their way around the Sea of Treasure. The governor and the guards are known to be fairly relaxed in law enforcement while the inspector general is known to run a very tight ship at the port. Because the laws in the city are not strictly upheld, many people see Saltport as a good place to go if they are on the wrong side of the law in one of the local towns or even settlements on nearby islands. The unique context that this city exists in means that it is also a hub of the poisons trade. If you know who to talk to, it is said that you can find just about any toxic substance you can think of in a back alley market in Saltport.
Geological/Biological History
Several dozen million years ago, a shield volcano began erupting somewhere in the middle of the Sea of Treasure. Over time the lava cooled and built up until an island formed. Although the lava built up slowly, it was high in silicon dioxide and cooled very quickly, meaning much of the island is actually made up of obsidian and quartz. It was completely barren for a few million years until erosion and colonizing plants started to make it habitable. The eastern side of the island has always been the windward side that gets a lot of rain while the western side has always been in the dryer rain shadow of the mountains, so of course the saltwood jungle grew in on the east side and the obsidian scrub on the west side.
These biomes tend to extend up into the hills and mountains until the altitude excludes trees, and then even grasses towards the peak of The Gem. The saltwood trees that are endemic to the Titan's Ring today are the descendents of regular palm trees which have since adapted to be highly tolerant to salt, to the point that they cannot survive without large amounts of salt in the soil. The sap of these trees is incredibly salty, but can be dried and ground up to make a culinary salt that will neutralize poison in food that it is used on. The shrubs and grasses that did better on the dry side did so through a multitude of oils and hairs that have led to a large number of useful culinary herbs in the Obsidian Scrub.
Most of the plant and animal species that live on the islands today arrived randomly from the mainland. They had to be able to either fly or float from the mainland, meaning most animals on the Titan's Ring are birds, but lizards, snakes, insects, and a few rodents made it out there as well. Most immigrants to the islands remained similar to their mainland ancestors, but there are two notable cases of island gigantism. One group of birds evolved into giant herbivores known as moa and one group of rodents evolved into coyote-sized pack hunters known as dire squirrels which feed primarily on the moa.
Animals of all types tend to be black and gray when found in the scrub while their Saltwood counterparts tend to be countershaded browns. Other notable biological specimens include a seagull that hunts prey in flocks, a turtle that eats obsidian gravel that then gets processed and incorporated into the shell, and a squirrel with a glowing tail.
Lizard folk arrived on the ring about 5,000 years ago during the height of their ancient seafaring culture, bringing no organisms with them other than themselves as they never domesticated any plants or animals. The First Empire discovered the island and began colonizing it about 200 years ago, bringing sheep, dogs, cats, rice, and several other domestic animals to the ring. All of these domesticated imports tend to be found only around forts and towns established by the First Empire as the native ecosystems seem to be exceptionally resistant to invasion by everything the First Empire has introduced so far. While imperial domestics do just fine when raised and protected by people, local organisms seem too hostile for any recent transplants to establish a solid population.
Political History
Lizard folk arrived on the ring about 5,000 years ago during the height of their ancient seafaring culture and have been present ever since. The Titan’s Ring was first scouted by humans about 250 years ago when the First Imperial Navy landed on the eastern shore, and the island was officially opened to colonization 200 years ago in the first round of openings. Since then, a few towns and forts have been established by the First Empire. Only one city has developed on the Titan's Ring, Saltport, which has the only port large enough to accommodate large cargo ships in the Titan's Ring. Because of this, pretty much every good produced on or extracted from the islands goes through Saltport before it leaves for other parts of the First Empire. In the last 20 years or so, this relationship between Saltport and the other towns on the island has led to some degree of tension as townsfolk feel the merchants in the cities have too much power.
